History
Meany was founded by Jack S. Dominy in 1955. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War 2, J.S.D. settled down in Chicago and joined the IBEW local 134. Through sound business principles and a hard work ethic, J.S.D. provided a solid foundation on which the company could grow and prosper.
J.S.D.’s oldest son Mike Dominy joined the company in 1967 and Meany became a “family business”. After holding several different positions at Meany, Mike was President for nearly 30 years before moving on in 2007 at the age of 62. Mike worked diligently to solidify Meany’s reputation as one of Chicagoland’s most trustworthy and quality electrical contractors.
J.S.D.’s younger son, Dan Dominy, served his apprenticeship with the IBEW local 134 and worked as a Foreman electrician for several years before coming into the office. Dan is a supervising electrician for the City of Chicago. After serving as Vice President for several years, Dan Dominy assumed the role of President in 2007.
Continuing the business into the 3rd generation, Jack D. Dominy joined Meany in 1997. After graduating from the University of Arizona with a double major in Accounting and Management Information Systems, Jack has worked as Superintendent, Project Manager, and Estimator. Jack is currently Vice President of Meany.
Nick Dominy also carries on the 3rd generation of Dominys at Meany. Nick joined in 2012 after graduating Purdue University. Nick currently serves as Superintendent, overseeing all aspects of field productivity and operations, including Meany’s information technology network.
